Accra Lions produced a dominant first-half display and held off a late Aduana FC resurgence to record an emphatic 5-3 victory in their Matchweek 31 Ghana Premier League clash on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Lions roared into an early lead when Musa Hamzata opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Lucky Nwafor extended the advantage in the 31st minute with a well-placed finish before adding his second on the stroke of halftime (45+1), sending the home side into the break with a commanding 3-0 cushion.
Faris Tahiru Salman joined the scoring spree with a fine strike in the 35th minute and returned after the interval to notch his brace in the 61st minute, making it 5-0 and effectively putting the result beyond doubt.
Aduana FC, however, refused to go down without a fight. Emmanuel Paga Peprah pulled two back in quick succession in the 83rd and 87th minutes, showing his predatory instincts. Emmanuel Marfo added a third in added time (90+2), but the damage had already been done in the first hour of the contest.
The win boosts Accra Lions’ survival hopes as they push clear of the relegation zone, while Aduana FC’s top-four ambitions take a hit after another inconsistent defensive showing.
Accra Lions will aim to maintain this form in the final rounds of the season, while Aduana must quickly address their vulnerabilities as the race for the top intensifies.
