Otto Addo Set to Name Black Stars Squad for Unity Cup Next Week – GFA Spokesperson
Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has revealed that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is expected to announce his squad for the upcoming Unity Cup next week.
The senior national team is set to compete in a four-nation tournament in the United Kingdom later this month. Ghana will take on Nigeria in a highly anticipated semifinal clash on Tuesday, May 28, at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
The winner of that encounter will progress to the final on Saturday, May 31, to face either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago at 12:30 GMT.
In an interview with Akoma FM, Asante Twum confirmed that the technical team is finalizing the squad list and that some new faces are expected to be included.
“I know the technical team is considering how to approach this Cup—there will be some fresh additions while keeping the core of the team,” he said.
“Possibly by next week, the coach will announce his team. If we have local players, they will join the home-based contingent and move directly to London to begin preparations.”
Meanwhile, multiple local media reports have hinted that Asante Kotoko duo Andrews Ntim Manu and Kwame Opoku are among the local players likely to be called up, alongside Dreams FC’s Kamaradini Mamudu, Razak Simpson, and current Black Stars first-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
