Watford FC Women have bolstered their squad with the addition of experienced Ghanaian midfielder Freda Ayisi ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 30-year-old Ghana international joins the Golden Girls after spending 2024/25 with Women’s National League Southern Premier Division rivals Hashtag United.
Ayisi scored seven goals in 16 appearances for the Tags – including one against Watford on the opening weekend – but her season was cut short in January by injury.
Her senior career began with Arsenal in 2013 and included being part of the squad which won the 2014 Women’s FA Cup final against Everton.
She also bagged a Champions League goal for the Gunners against FC Kairat before moving on to Birmingham City.
The switch to the Midlands saw Ayisi involved in the FA Cup final again – this time in a losing effort at Wembley as the Blues went down to Manchester City.
In 2018, Ayisi moved to Leicester City, while she also represented London City Lionesses, Lewes and Charlton Athletic before her move to Hashtag in July 2024.
