Ghanaian-German centre-back Michael Akoto has completed a move to Icelandic giants KR Reykjavik.
The 27-year-old defender signed a two-year contract with the club, following his departure from Danish side AGF in July.
KR Reykjavik confirmed the signing on their official channels, stating:
“Michael Akoto in KR! Michael Akoto (1997) has signed a contract with the club until the 2027 season! Michael Akoto is a German defender who was last at AGF in the Danish first division. We look forward to seeing him on the pitch and welcome him to KR!”
Akoto has already joined his new teammates and could make his debut on Monday against Fram, as the Icelandic top-tier league resumes following a month-long break.
Born in Accra, Ghana, Akoto moved to Germany at an early age and began his football journey with SV Wehen before joining Wehen Wiesbaden. He later featured for Mainz 05 II, Dynamo Dresden, and AGF in Denmark.
Despite holding German citizenship, Akoto remains eligible to represent the Black Stars of Ghana internationally.
