The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted approval for Accra Sports Stadium to host Ghanaian clubs in the upcoming inter-club competitions.

With ongoing renovations at Baba Yara Stadium, Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars—Ghana’s representatives for the 2025/26 CAF tournaments—will play their home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko has been drawn against Nigeria’s Kwara United, while GoldStars, the 2025 Ghana Premier League champions, will face Algeria’s JS Kabylie.

The Porcupine Warriors are scheduled to host Kwara United between September 19 and 21, 2025, with the return leg in Nigeria set for September 26 to 28. GoldStars will welcome JS Kabylie during the same September 19-21 period before traveling to Algeria for the return fixture from September 26 to 28.

CAF’s announcement highlights that although Accra Sports Stadium does not yet fully meet international standards, it has been approved to host the preliminary stages of both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

The move ensures that Ghanaian clubs can compete in continental tournaments while renovations continue at the nation’s primary stadiums.
