Manchester City Show interest in Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong

Manchester City are keeping a close eye on Chelsea’s young right-back Josh Acheampong, according to reports.

City are in the market for a new right-back following Kyle Walker’s move to Burnley. The club previously targeted Tino Livramento from Newcastle United, but the deal fell through due to Newcastle’s asking price.

At the moment, Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes are expected to cover the role, while Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and new signing Abdukodir Khusanov can also step in. However, Pep Guardiola’s side are still looking for a long-term specialist.

Acheampong, 19, has attracted strong interest. Reports say Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and West Ham are also monitoring him, along with some European clubs. Bournemouth even asked about a loan move, but Chelsea rejected the request.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is keen to keep Acheampong, and the club have no plans to sell. Because of this, City may simply continue to follow his progress with the option of revisiting the situation in 2026.

For now, City will try to manage with their current options, but speculation about the right-back position is expected to continue until a permanent replacement for Walker is secured.
