The Ghana Football Association has appointed Maxwell Konadu as the new head coach of the Black Satellites, Ghana’s U-20 national team.
Konadu succeeds Desmond Ofei and will be assisted by Johnson Smith, deputy coach of Nations FC, and Winfred Dormon, head coach of Dreams FC. Kelvin Agyemang also joins the technical setup as the goalkeepers’ trainer.
The vastly experienced coach returns to national duty with a rich résumé, having managed top clubs in the Ghana Premier League such as Nsoatreman, Legon Cities, Asante Kotoko, and most recently Black Leopards in South Africa.
During his spell at Kotoko, he won the 2012 Ghana Premier League title and later added the 2019 President’s Cup. On the continental stage, he guided the Black Galaxies to WAFU Zone B Championships in 2013 and 2017.
Konadu also made history with Nsoatreman FC, steering them to their first-ever MTN FA Cup triumph in the 2023/24 season.
At the international level, he has previously served as assistant coach of the Black Stars, working under Akwasi Appiah and former Chelsea manager Avram Grant.
His appointment to lead the Black Satellites marks another important chapter in his long-standing contribution to Ghanaian football, as he prepares to nurture the next generation of national team stars.
