Ghana’s rising football stars are making waves in Denmark, with Caleb Yirenkyi, Prince Amoako Jr, and Bismarck Edjeodji all shortlisted for the Danish Superliga Young Player of the Month award for August.
The nominations underline the growing influence of Ghanaian talent in the league, with the trio standing out for FC Nordsjaelland and Vejle Boldklub.
Caleb Yirenkyi, a 19-year-old right-back from the Right to Dream Academy, delivered a breakthrough month for Nordsjaelland. He recorded one goal and one assist in 300 minutes of football, performances that also earned him a Black Stars debut in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad on September 4. Yirenkyi is expected to feature again when Ghana face Mali in Accra on Monday, September 8.
Prince Amoako Jr, just 18 years old and also a Right to Dream graduate, has quickly established himself as a key figure for Nordsjaelland since his July debut. The talented forward netted two goals in five appearances during August, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting young attackers in the Superliga.
Joining them on the shortlist is Bismarck Edjeodji, another Ghanaian prospect who has hit the ground running at Vejle Boldklub after joining from Bechem United in July. The 18-year-old midfielder has already tallied three assists in six matches, showcasing his creativity and adaptability in the Danish top flight.
The Ghanaian trio will compete against Thomas Jorgensen (Viborg), Clement Bischoff—who recently swapped Brøndby IF for Red Bull Salzburg—and Hjalte Bidstrup (Viborg) for the monthly accolade.
The winner will be decided through fan voting, with the announcement expected after the international break.
This rare triple nomination shines a spotlight on Ghana’s production line of talent, with the Right to Dream Academy and Ghana Premier League clubs continuing to supply some of the brightest young players to European football.
