Ghanaian defender Jan Gyamerah scored his maiden goal for SV Elversberg on Saturday afternoon, helping the league leaders to a dominant 4-1 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig in the German Bundesliga II.

The 30-year-old, who signed for Elversberg ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, struck in the 23rd minute to restore his side’s lead, marking his first goal in just his fifth appearance for the club.

Elversberg started brightly when Younes Ebnoutalib capped off a well-worked move set up by Lukasz Poreba to give them the lead in the 12th minute. The hosts responded swiftly, however, as Erencan Yardimci levelled the score for Braunschweig just eight minutes later.

Gyamerah quickly settled matters with a composed finish inside the box to make it 2-1, a goal that shifted momentum firmly in Elversberg’s favour. From there, the visitors took control of proceedings, dictating the tempo and carving open the Braunschweig defence.

Ebnoutalib doubled his tally in the 79th minute to extend the lead, before Frederik Schmahl sealed the emphatic win with an 86th-minute strike.

The result ensures Elversberg remain top of the Bundesliga II standings after a flying start to the season. Gyamerah’s assured display — capped by his crucial goal — highlights his growing importance in the squad as the club pursues promotion to the Bundesliga.

With a wealth of top-flight experience from his years in German football, the Hamburg-born defender’s versatility and leadership have already made him a cornerstone in Elversberg’s campaign.
