Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante continued his brilliant form by scoring in Coventry City’s 3–1 victory over Watford in the English Championship on Saturday.
Playing at the Coventry Building Society Arena, Thomas-Asante opened the scoring just three minutes into the match after connecting perfectly with a cross from Japanese midfielder Tatsuhiro Sakamoto. The in-form Black Stars striker has now scored seven goals in his last six matches for Coventry, adding one assist to his impressive tally.
Coventry doubled their lead in the seventh minute through Jamie Allen, who capitalized on a poorly cleared corner to fire home from close range. Sakamoto later turned from provider to scorer, taking advantage of a Watford defensive blunder to slot in Coventry’s third goal just before halftime.
Watford’s troubles deepened when James Abankwa was sent off in the 44th minute for a reckless challenge inside his own box. The visitors, however, managed a consolation goal in the 69th minute when Imran Louza converted from the penalty spot.
The win keeps Coventry City at the top of the Championship table with 28 points from 12 matches, while Watford sit 14th with 15 points.
Brandon Thomas-Asante’s strike takes his season tally to nine goals in 11 appearances, along with three assists — further underlining his growing importance for Coventry City and his bright future for Ghana.
