Darko Gyabi has opened up about the groin injury that cut short his first loan spell at Plymouth Argyle — describing it as one of the most frustrating moments of his young career.
The midfielder was in top form when the injury struck in training, forcing him into surgery.
“I felt angry because I wanted to keep playing and keep performing,” Gyabi admitted.
“It was difficult, it was annoying, but once I got my head around it … I knew I was going to be more than just fine.”
He returned the following season fitter and mentally stronger, featuring in almost every league match.
Gyabi says the setback changed how he understands his body.
“In the gym, you can do everything you want, but once your body’s growing and adapting to men’s football, certain things happen. Injuries are part of the process.”
His impressive comeback would eventually lead to a historic FA Cup run.
