Italian giants Juventus are reportedly monitoring highly-rated Ghana-eligible midfielder Samuel Wiafe as they continue their search for promising young talent in Serie A.
The 18-year-old, who is currently on the books of Genoa, has attracted the attention of the Bianconeri following a string of impressive performances that have highlighted his enormous potential.
According to reports in Italy, Juventus scouts have been closely following Wiafe’s development and are considering a move for the talented teenager, although no formal offer has been submitted at this stage.
The Turin-based club are believed to view Wiafe as a long-term investment, with their recruitment strategy in recent years focusing heavily on signing some of the brightest young prospects in Italian football before integrating them into the first team or their Next Gen project.
Wiafe has earned praise for his composure in midfield, technical ability, vision and intelligence in possession, qualities that have made him one of Genoa’s emerging talents.
A transfer, should it materialise, would represent a significant step in the youngster’s career, providing him with the opportunity to continue his development at one of Italy’s most successful clubs.
The midfielder is eligible to represent both Ghana and Italy at international level, making him one of the dual-nationality prospects being closely monitored by both countries.
For Ghana, Wiafe’s emergence is particularly encouraging as the Ghana Football Association continues efforts to strengthen the Black Stars with talented young players competing in Europe’s top leagues.
While Juventus’ interest underlines the teenager’s growing reputation, negotiations are not believed to have advanced beyond the scouting stage, and Genoa are expected to be reluctant to part with one of their most promising academy products unless a compelling offer arrives.
With his stock continuing to rise, Wiafe will be hoping to maintain his impressive progress and establish himself further in Italian football as speculation over his future gathers momentum.
