Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has praised his team following their hard-earned victory over FC Samartex in the Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians secured a 1-0 win against the Timber Boys on Friday at the University of Ghana Stadium. A first-half goal from Hamza Issah proved enough to earn Hearts of Oak all three points, even though the team did not put up their best performance.
Speaking after the match, Osei Asibey said the win was very important to both the players and the supporters. He explained that the team was disappointed after failing to win their previous game against Aduana FC and felt a strong need to respond positively.
“We really needed this win. We couldn’t beat Aduana when we should have, so going into this match, we knew we had to make our fans happy,” he said.
The 25-year-old defender has made 13 league appearances for Hearts of Oak this season but is yet to score a goal, with just one game left before the first round of the league ends.
Hearts of Oak will wrap up the first half of the season with a tough away clash against title contenders Medeama SC at the TNA Park on Sunday, January 4.
