Dede Ayew, 36, on the eve of 2026, was confirmed to have signed for the Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda. The bottom-place team in the Netherlands top flight.
The former skipper for the Black Stars last played competitively on 17th May 2025 for Le Havre against Strasbourg in the final game of the 2024-25 French Ligue one season. Le Havre won 3-2 at Strasbourg and subsequently survived after finishing one point above Reims, who occupied 16th position.
The club and Andre Ayew failed to renew their marriage, hence making the Ghanaian unattached. After 228 days of no affiliation with any club, Dede finally signed for a European club, with many Ghanaians believing he has set his eyes and mind firmly on a slot for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
NAC Breda’s Eredivisie form
NAC Breda sit bottom of the Eredivisie, having won three, drawn four and lost ten games in the 17 matches played so far in the current campaign. The club are just two points behind Telstar, who sits in 15th place.
NAC lost five of their last six games in the league before the Christmas break. They will need motivation and encouragement from somewhere, and they are the reasons why they have added Andre Ayew, who played a crucial role in Le Havre’s survival in the French Ligue 1, to their squad.

Andre Ayew is one of the most experienced players currently in world football, having made 710 career appearances since he made his debut for Olympique Marseille in August 2007.
With 187 goals scored and 61 assists provided in his career, Dede has an incredible experience to lead NAC Breda’s fight for survival.
Having represented Marseille, Lorient, Arles-Avignon, West Ham, Swansea, Fenerbahçe, Al Sadd, Nottingham Forest and Le Havre, Andre Ayew is undoubtedly a journeyman. The second son of the legendary Abedi Pele has won 120 caps for Ghana, having scored 24 goals.
