Andre Ayew will be the 7th Ghanaian to represent a Netherlands club, NAC Breda. The first Ghanaian player was Koforidua-born Kofi Mensah, who joined Parel van het Zuiden from Ajax Amsterdam in 1999. The defender played 41 times for NAC in four seasons before joining ADO Den Haag in the 2003-04 season.

Second on the list is Tema-born Mathew Amoah, who played 105 matches for the club. The former Black Stars striker scored 43 goals in four years (2007-2011) after joining from Borussia Dortmund.

Divine Naah is the third Ghanaian to play for NAC Breda. The midfielder, who was born in Obuasi,  is a graduate of the famous Right To Dream Academy. The 29-year-old last played for Kauno Zalgiris in Lithuania, having been in the books of Manchester City between 2014 and 2018. Naah failed to make any appearance for the English giants. An ill-fated loan to Norwegian side Stromsgodset in 2014 was followed by another one in Holland with NAC Breda in the 2015-16 season. Naah played 34 times for the Dutch club before returning to the parent club, Manchester City. Loans to Nordsjaelland in Denmark, Orebro in Sweden and A.F.C Tubize in Belgium followed before moving permanently from Manchester City.

Another Ghanaian youngster who did not get the opportunity to play for Manchester City but once represented NAC Breda is Thomas Agyepong. He is the fourth Ghanaian to play for the Dutch club. Between 2016 and 2018, Agyepong enjoyed a two-season loan spell at Breda. The winger played 39 times and scored two goals for NAC Breda. A loan move to Hibernian in Scotland followed, another one to Waasland-Beveren and Lommel in Belgium, before finally leaving Manchester City in 2023 for Estonian club Paide Linnameeskond. Agyepong has represented Black Stars on six occasions.

Fifth on the list is Kamal Sowah, who is now at the club, having signed for them in February 2023 after a season-long loan at Standard Liege in Belgium. Sowah has played 12 times for Breda and is yet to register a goal. Another Right to Dream product, Sowah has won one cap for Ghana and was a hot talent for Club Brugge a few seasons ago.

Denis Odoi, 37, moved to NAC after terminating his contract with Royal Antwerp. The veteran defender is the sixth Ghanaian to play for the club. He has made three appearances for Breda and is regarded as a senior figure in the club.

Ghana’s former skipper Dede Ayew is the 7th player to play for NAC Breda. Unquestionably, he will be the biggest name among the seven to represent the club as a Ghanaian
