Wolverhampton Wanderers have opened talks to sign Ghanaian defender Jonas Adjetey as manager Rob Edwards seeks reinforcements before the January transfer window closes.
The 22-year-old, currently with FC Basel, has drawn attention after a rapid rise in Europe and seven appearances for the Black Stars.
Edwards stressed that attitude, ability, and athleticism are key for any incoming player, suggesting that Adjetey ticks all the boxes as Wolves target reinforcements for the second half of the season.
Reports from Italy via Sport Witness claim that Wolves are competing with Bologna for the Basel centre-back. Adjetey’s meteoric rise is notable: he joined Basel for just €25,000 (£22,000) but has since become a crucial figure for the Swiss side.
With his growing reputation, Basel is expected to cash in for a substantial profit, making Adjetey a hot commodity in the European transfer market. Wolves appear determined to secure the Ghanaian defender as part of their push to avoid relegation.
