Everton loanee Tyrique George has revealed his Ghanaian heritage as he begins his spell at Goodison Park, a disclosure that could put him on the radar of the Ghana national team ahead of future international competitions.

The 19-year-old winger, who joined Everton on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, shared details of his background in a recent club video. George disclosed that his mother is Ghanaian, while his father hails from Nigeria, although he was born in England.

Despite his dual heritage, George has so far represented England at every youth level from U16 to U21, establishing himself as one of the country’s exciting young wide attackers. However, his confirmation of Ghanaian roots comes at a crucial moment, as the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has recently intensified efforts to engage England-born players with Ghanaian ties as part of its long-term squad-building strategy. High-profile names such as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah have previously been linked with potential switches, and George now joins a growing pool of dual-nationality prospects being closely monitored.

At club level, George is expected to play an important role for Everton following Jack Grealish’s season-ending foot injury. His pace, directness, and positional flexibility provide manager Sean Dyche with valuable attacking depth as the Toffees aim to finish the 2025/26 season on a strong note.
