Athletic Club Bilbao head coach Ernesto Valverde discussed Inaki Williams‘ significance to the team. He shared his thoughts in a post-game interview after Williams assisted twice in Bilbao’s 4-2 victory over Levante in La Liga.
These assists followed Williams’ late goal that secured a 2-1 win against Valencia in the Copa Del Rey quarterfinals. Athletic Bilbao will face Real Sociedad in the Spanish Cup semifinals on February 11. Valverde emphasized that Williams’ strong performances greatly benefit the club.
“We hope the goal he scored and today’s performance will encourage him,” Valverde stated. He praised Williams for his drive and heart, noting these qualities motivate the team. “He’s always a player who persists a lot, and that makes us produce a lot,” Valverde added.
Earlier this season, Williams missed two months due to an abductor injury. This absence included Ghana’s qualification matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
