“No more excuses, it’s redemption time” – Nana Apinkra rallies Kotoko players after Zito exit ahead of Hearts clash

Chairman of the Asante Kotoko SC Interim Management Committee (IMC), Nana Apinkra, has delivered a firm and motivating message to the playing body following the departure of head coach Abdul Karim Zito.

Kotoko Face Hearts Without a Head Coach

The Porcupine Warriors have just four days to regroup and refocus as they prepare to host arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in a high-stakes Ghana Premier League Week 22 encounter.

Kotoko will head into the Super Clash without a substantive head coach after the club officially confirmed on Monday evening that it had accepted Karim Zito’s resignation, bringing his tenure to an end.

IMC Chairman Visits Players, Demands Response

A day after the announcement, Nana Apinkra paid a visit to the team at their Adako Jachie Training Complex, where he addressed the players and urged them to put recent events behind them and focus on restoring the club’s pride.

The IMC Chairman made it clear that the club expects a strong response, stressing that excuses would no longer be tolerated.

“We can’t afford further excuses. It’s redemption time. Let’s leave the past behind and focus on what lies ahead. We must redeem ourselves on Sunday,” Nana Apinkra told the players.

Super Clash Carries Pride and Points

Asante Kotoko will lock horns with Hearts of Oak on Sunday, a fixture that has, for decades, been defined by intense rivalry and bragging rights in Ghanaian football.

Kotoko currently sit fifth on the league table with 35 points, just one point behind Hearts of Oak (36 points) and eight points adrift of league leaders Medeama SC, making the upcoming clash crucial both emotionally and competitively.
