President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has appealed for sustained support for Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, commending him for steering the national team to successive FIFA World Cup qualifications.
Addo, who is currently in his second spell in charge, recently led Ghana through another successful qualifying campaign, securing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The former Ghana international had earlier guided the Black Stars to the 2022 edition in Qatar, making him the first Ghanaian coach to achieve World Cup qualification twice with the senior national team.
Speaking on Asaase Radio, Okraku stressed that the achievement deserves recognition and respect.
“Otto Addo is the only Ghanaian to have qualified the Black Stars for two World Cups. Let’s respect and support him for that. He’s done well,” the GFA boss stated.
In preparation for the global showpiece, the GFA has reinforced the Black Stars’ backroom staff with five strategic appointments. Assistant coaches Alain Ravera, Kim Grant, and Kim Lars Björkegren have joined the technical bench, alongside performance analyst José Daniel Martínez Alfonso and performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi.
The expanded setup is expected to enhance the team’s tactical planning, match analysis, and physical conditioning as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 tournament.
At the World Cup, Ghana have been drawn in Group L, where they will face Panama, England, and Croatia in what promises to be a challenging group.
With preparations underway and technical support strengthened, Okraku believes unity and patience around Addo and his squad will be crucial as the Black Stars aim to make a strong impression on the world stage.
