Benjamin Asare, Mohammed Seidu and Eric Ofori Antwi were the standout names as Hearts of Oak and Berekum Chelsea played out a goalless draw in Week 23 of the Ghana Premier League at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
Hearts of Oak missed the chance to close the gap at the top of the table after failing to find the net despite creating the better chances. The Phobians, who were hoping to build on their recent victory over Asante Kotoko, were left frustrated by a resilient Chelsea side.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare made a crucial first-half save to keep Hearts in the game, while Mohammed Seidu produced a timely goal-line clearance to prevent the home side from taking the lead. On the other end, Eric Ofori Antwi stood firm in post, denying Mawuli Wayo with a brilliant stop as Hearts pressed forward.
Statistically, Hearts showed more attacking intent and registered more shots on target, but poor finishing cost them maximum points.
The result means Hearts now trail league leaders Medeama by five points after the leaders were also held to a draw in their fixture.
Hearts of Oak will shift focus to their upcoming clash with Heart of Lions, while Berekum Chelsea prepare to face Karela United. Chelsea remain 15th on the league table, three points away from safety as the relegation fight grows more intense.
