Ghanaian winger Isaac Atanga has finalized a permanent transfer from Kalmar FF to Icelandic side Thor Akureyri, ending his brief spell in Sweden.
Atanga, 24, joined Kalmar FF in January 2025 from Norwegian club Aalesunds FK with ambitions to reestablish himself in Scandinavian football.
During his time with Kalmar, he made 11 appearances across the Superettan and the Swedish Cup, contributing to the club’s successful push for promotion to the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top-flight league.
Kalmar’s Sporting Director, Mats Winblad, praised Atanga for his professionalism and dedication, saying, “We would like to thank Isaac for his time at Kalmar FF and wish him the best of luck in Iceland. Isaac has been very professional in everything he has done with us and contributed to the promotion to the Allsvenskan.”
Atanga also bid an emotional farewell to his teammates and supporters, expressing gratitude for their support throughout the season and wishing the club success in the upcoming campaign.
