HJK’s Head of Scouting, Janne Wilkman, and sporting director, Petri Vuorinen, believe Emmanuel Boateng is exactly the kind of midfielder the club have been looking for.
Wilkman has followed Boateng closely since his years in Sweden’s Allsvenskan and is convinced his skill set fits the modern game.
Wilkman explained that HJK wanted a defensive-minded central midfielder with dynamism and speed, qualities he feels Boateng possesses in abundance. He stressed that Boateng will add new attributes to HJK’s play, especially in transitions with the ball, offering something the squad has previously lacked. The recruitment team are, in his words, very happy to have succeeded in bringing him to Helsinki.
Vuorinen echoed that view, describing Boateng primarily as a genuine reinforcement who brings clear added value through his ability to cover large spaces and protect the back line. He noted that the Ghanaian should integrate well into the team’s structure and style, underlining that HJK have spent time searching for this specific profile.
With Boateng on board, the club feel better equipped in a key area of the pitch ahead of the new campaign.
