Prince Owusu has offered insight into his decision to replace forward Hubert Gyau during their recent match against .

The interim Kotoko boss revealed that the substitution was a tactical move aimed at addressing finishing inefficiencies in front of goal. According to Owusu, Gyau was struggling to convert chances despite clear instructions from the coaching staff.

“We are telling him when he gets in front he should just try and place it and he was still ballooning,” Owusu stated, highlighting the forward’s missed opportunities.

The Ghanaian coach emphasized that the decision was made to maintain the team’s attacking momentum and increase their chances of scoring, rather than being a reflection of the player’s overall contribution. Owusu’s focus remains on ensuring Kotoko can capitalize on clear-cut opportunities and secure positive results in the league.

Kotoko went on to adjust their attacking approach following the substitution, and Owusu’s explanation underlines the importance of tactical responsiveness in tight matches. For supporters, it offers transparency on coaching decisions and the emphasis placed on clinical finishing at the club.

As the season continues, Owusu is expected to make similar interventions to ensure Kotoko remain competitive, while players like Gyau are encouraged to refine their composure in front of goal to meet the team’s expectations.
