Interim Leicester City FC manager Gary Rowett has lauded the teamwork that set up Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s stunning right-footed volley, which secured a 2-0 win over Bristol City FC—Leicester’s first victory since Rowett took charge.
Issahaku’s strike, which came from a well-orchestrated 18-pass buildup, ended Leicester’s extended winless streak and gave Rowett his first clean sheet as interim boss. Speaking after the match, Rowett emphasized the collective effort behind the goal.
“Abdul ends up with a right-footed volley—it’s a thunderbolt,” Rowett told Leicester City media. “Getting in the right position on the back post is one thing, but it’s the composed play and teamwork that made it special.”
The goal moves the Ghanaian winger closer to double figures for the season, with nine goals and seven assists in 36 appearances across all competitions, highlighting his growing influence in the Foxes’ attack.
For Rowett, the victory provides a crucial boost as he looks to build momentum, with Issahaku’s goal serving as the perfect example of the style of play he hopes to see more regularly at Leicester City FC.
