Tottenham Hotspur

It has been a tough season for the bona fide Ghanaian playmaker and his club, Tottenham Hotspur.
Mohammed Kudus, 25, suffered a serious quad tendon injury in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland at Tottenham Stadium back in early January in round 20 of the Premier League.
The Ghanaian looked certain to be getting back to his best, physically, but unfortunately, on Thursday morning, he suffered a massive setback, which will likely keep him out for a while.
Kudus has missed 16 games across all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur since early January. The club looks completely lost in the playmaking positions since he went out due to a muscle injury. Nevertheless, he is the player who has provided the most assists for Spurs (5) in the EPL, despite missing 11 games.
His latest injury is set to make things worse for new coach Roberto De Zerbi, who expected to have him back in their final seven games of the season.

Croatian manager, Igor Tudor, who was recently sacked by Tottenham Hotspur, was extremely positive about having Kudus for the final part of the season, but it looks like he must wait for the commencement of the 2026-27 season.
Speaking to football.london, ahead of the Nottingham Forest huge test, where they lost 3-0 at home, Tudor said, “So we have this big three weeks after the game on Sunday. He will probably do some part of the things with the squad maybe 10 days [after the break]”.
“I don’t know, I’m not sure. We need to check, but he is progressing very well. Already a little bit with the ball,” Tudor concluded.
Tottenham’s season has been so disastrous, partly due to the lengthy absence of top players like Maddison, Kulusevski, Bentancur, Bissouma and Davies because of injuries. Kudus’ five-month absence has already cost the club a lot, and the London-based club is set to suffer more.
Ghana

It has not been finally confirmed that he will miss the World Cup entirely, but it looks clear that he might not be fully fit on time for the Black Stars.
Mohammed Kudus has been Ghana’s best player, arguably, since 2021. After making his debut in November 2019, the former Right To Dream Academy graduate has already represented Ghana in the World Cup and AFCON, where he made a huge name for himself in each tournament, becoming fans’ favourite. His brace against South Korea in the 3-2 win in the 2022 Qatar World Cup put the Black Stars in a fine position to qualify to the knockout stage, but ultimately failed against Uruguay in the final game of the group.
Kudus’ sumptuous brace against Egypt in the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire also put Ghana in the same position, but it failed to protect a two-goal lead against Mozambique in the final game and was shockingly eliminated from the group stage.
The Tottenham man has played a key role for Ghana in the two major tournaments he has competed in, having scored four goals in five matches for Ghana. If he is to miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it will be a big blow for the Black Stars.
When Michael Essien spoke to FIFA.com in an interview for the World Cup, the former Chelsea midfield maestro waxed lyrical about the ex-Hammer star.
“If I start talking about him [Kudus], we won’t finish! I think he has showcased himself to the football world. He’s one of the biggest talents, and for Ghana, he’s our star. We have to protect him and give him all the love and confidence he needs,” Essien said.
Ghanaians are very worried after hearing that Kudus will probably miss the imminent World Cup. The playmaker missed Ghana’s friendly games against Austria and Germany. You could feel that the team was missing his skills and passion.

Ghana’s games Kudus is likely to miss

V Wales (International friendly)
V Panama (FIFA World Cup)
V England (FIFA World Cup)
V Croatia (FIFA World Cup)
Ghana will continue the preparation for the World Cup with friendly games against Wales and Mexico in May, then face Panama, England and Croatia in Group L of the World Cup.
Both Tottenham and Ghana will dearly miss the Star Boy because he is so important to them.
