Former GHALCA Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has made strong claims about deep-rooted challenges within Ghana’s football system, calling for urgent reforms to restore credibility and fairness.
Speaking in an interview with KessbenSports, Fianoo did not hold back in his assessment of the current state of the game. He stressed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) must take decisive steps to clean up the system, which he believes has been compromised over time.
“The GFA system must be sanitized,” he stated, before making a startling revelation about how competitions are allegedly influenced.
According to him, “The determination (fixing) of which clubs get promotion and which clubs win the league has been going on for long but it has worsened under the current administration.”
Fianoo’s comments suggest that issues of manipulation and lack of transparency are not new in Ghana football, but have intensified in recent years. His remarks point to a system where outcomes may not always be based purely on performance on the pitch, raising concerns among fans and stakeholders.
The former football administrator believes that without serious intervention, the integrity of the domestic leagues could continue to suffer. He emphasized the need for stricter regulations, accountability, and a commitment to fairness from all involved in the game.
