FC Samartex 1996 secure narrow home win over Berekum Chelsea in week 29 clash

FC Samartex 1996 returned to winning form on Sunday after grinding out a 1–0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in their Ghana Premier League Week 29 encounter at Samreboi.

The hosts made a strong start to the game and wasted little time in taking control. Their early pressure paid off in just the 8th minute when Alhassan Mohammed finished off a well-coordinated attacking move to give Samartex the lead.

That early strike proved crucial, as it allowed the Timber Giants to dictate the tempo of the match. They enjoyed long spells of possession in the first half and limited Chelsea’s attacking threat, leaving the visitors struggling to settle into any rhythm.

Berekum Chelsea came back from the break with more urgency, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Although they managed to create a few promising moments, they were consistently stopped by a well-organised Samartex defence that remained compact and disciplined.

On the other side, Samartex continued to look dangerous on the break and could have extended their advantage, but they were unable to finish off some good opportunities.

In the end, Alhassan Mohammed’s early goal stood as the match-winner, handing Samartex all three points and boosting their position in the league standings as they push for a strong finish to the season.

For Chelsea, it was another disappointing away result, as their struggles on the road continued and they were left searching for answers after failing to get back into the game.
