FIFA High-Performance Specialist Faisal Chibsah has outlined the key challenges that await newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, warning that the Ghana job demands more than just experience.
Following his appointment on a short-term deal ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Queiroz faces the immediate task of rebuilding confidence in a team that has struggled for consistency in recent months.
According to Chibsah, one of the biggest challenges will be instilling discipline and structure within the squad—areas he believes have been lacking.
“He will bring discipline, which for me has been missing, but the real test is how quickly the players adapt,” Chibsah noted.
Beyond discipline, Chibsah highlighted the intense expectations that come with managing the Black Stars, stressing that Ghana is a football nation where results are demanded immediately.
“Ghana is not like other teams he has handled. Here, the expectations are very high, and the pressure is constant,” he explained.
Another major hurdle will be time. With only a few months before the World Cup, Queiroz has limited opportunity to fully implement his philosophy, assess players, and build a cohesive system.
Chibsah also pointed to the need for the Portuguese tactician to quickly understand the dynamics of Ghanaian football, including player mentality, fan expectations, and administrative structures.
In addition, navigating a difficult World Cup group that includes England, Croatia, and Panama presents a serious competitive challenge, requiring both tactical discipline and mental resilience.
