Moises Caicedo has committed his long-term future to Chelsea FC after agreeing a lucrative new contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

The Ecuador international, now 24, has established himself as one of Chelsea’s most important players since his record-breaking move from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023, a deal worth an initial £100m that could rise to £115m.

Caicedo had reportedly been pushing for improved terms following a strong campaign in which Chelsea lifted both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last season.

Details of the contract

The new agreement is understood to be part of Chelsea’s wider strategy of rewarding key performers, alongside recent extensions such as captain Reece James. The club are also in discussions over additional renewals as they continue to build a long-term squad core

Chelsea have increasingly adopted a performance-based structure for contracts, with bonuses tied to achievements such as Champions League qualification and individual milestones.

Caicedo’s importance to the team has been reflected in his consistency. He was the only player to start every Premier League match last season and has remained ever-present this campaign, making 42 appearances and scoring five goals from defensive midfield.

what this means for Caicedo

Speaking during international duty, Caicedo previously made his ambition clear when asked about interest from Europe’s elite clubs.

“I’m focused on my club right now. I want to be a legend,” he said  a statement that now aligns with Chelsea’s decision to secure his long-term future.

The midfielder is also regarded internally as one of the club’s leadership figures, with Chelsea viewing him as a central part of their long-term project under head coach Liam Rosenior.

Elsewhere in the squad, discussions are ongoing regarding new deals for players such as Enzo Fernández and Levi Colwill, as the club continues to stabilise its core group.

Fernández recently returned from a brief internal suspension following comments made during international duty, highlighting the ongoing scrutiny around Chelsea’s dressing room dynamics.

For now, however, the focus remains on consolidation and Champions League qualification. Chelsea currently sit sixth in the Premier League as they prepare for a crucial clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

With Caicedo now secured on a long-term deal, Chelsea have made a clear statement about the future and their intent to build it around their Ecuadorian midfield anchor.
