English-Ghanaian midfielder Keenan Appiah-Forson was among the goalscorers as Southend United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wealdstone in National League Round 46 at Roots Hall.
The 24-year-old gave the Shrimpers a strong start, breaking the deadlock in the 11th minute with a composed finish to put the home side ahead early.
Southend doubled their advantage in the 34th minute through Charley Kendall, putting them in full control of the match. However, Wealdstone responded quickly, with Micah Obiero pulling one back just four minutes later to keep the contest alive.
Despite increasing pressure from the visitors in the second half, Southend United remained disciplined and resilient at the back to protect their slender lead and secure all three points.
Appiah-Forson’s goal adds to a solid campaign for the midfielder, who has now made 41 appearances in the 2025/26 National League season, recording two goals and two assists while maintaining consistent involvement in Southend’s push up the table. The club currently sits 6th with 81 points after 46 games.
Southend United will meet Wealdstone again in a high-profile showdown at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:30 PM as part of Non-League Finals Day, marking a major occasion for both sides.
