Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante was on the scoresheet on Sunday as Coventry City claimed a comfortable 3–1 home win over Wrexham A.F.C. in their Championship clash at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Thomas-Asante was handed a starting role for the Matchday 45 fixture and made an immediate impact in a game where Coventry began with strong intent despite having little at stake.
The home side opened the scoring in the 19th minute after Ephron Mason-Clark made a sharp run down the flank and delivered a well-placed cross into the box. Thomas-Asante reacted quickly, holding his position to stay onside before calmly finishing to give Coventry the lead.
Wrexham responded well after conceding and increased their attacking pressure. Their efforts were rewarded just six minutes later when Oliver Rathbone struck the equaliser, bringing the game back level before halftime.
After the restart, Coventry gradually regained control and looked more dangerous in the final third. The breakthrough came late in the match, with Victor Torp restoring the lead before Mason-Clark added another goal shortly after, sealing the result within the final ten minutes.
Thomas-Asante’s goal continues his strong run of form and further strengthens his growing reputation, with his performances keeping him in contention for consideration with Ghana ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup plans.
Coventry’s victory also boosts their positive end to the season as they continue their push for Premier League promotion.
