Asante Kotoko interim head coach Hamza Obeng says the team is gradually improving on the training ground as they prepare for a crucial Week 31 Ghana Premier League clash against Dreams FC.
Kotoko head into the away fixture in search of consistency after a difficult run of one win, one draw, and three defeats in their last five matches. Despite the inconsistent results, Obeng insists there are positive signs in training sessions that give him confidence.
Speaking to AKSC Media, the coach highlighted the team’s focus on tactical understanding, communication, and execution.
“We are looking at the phases of play. When I say phases of play, I am talking about communication in the game—one language we are to understand, which is the tactics to deploy,” he explained.
“And also deciding, looking at how they are trying to take whatever they are doing gradually, and also the execution of the decisions they are making, picking it up in terms of technique.”
Obeng added that the squad’s overall physical condition is also improving as preparations continue.
“That is what we are working on, and then football fitness training too is moving smoothly. So we are trying to build everything steadily, build a collective team, and achieve results,” he said.
Kotoko will, however, face a confident Dreams FC side who are in better form heading into the encounter. Dreams have recorded three wins, one draw, and just one defeat in their last five matches, setting up what promises to be a competitive and challenging fixture.
