The Black Starlets, have safely returned home following an intense double-header international friendly against Ivory Coast’s Young Elephants.

The team touched down at the Accra International Airport at approximately 18:30 GMT on Saturday, bringing to an end a productive preparatory trip that offered both lessons and encouragement ahead of their continental assignment.

Upon arrival, the team immediately continued to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, where they are expected to resume camping and fine-tune preparations for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco. The technical team is keen to build on the positives from the trip while addressing areas that need improvement.

The two friendly matches against the Ivorians provided a mixed but ultimately rewarding experience for the Starlets. In the first encounter, Ghana fell to a 2-0 defeat, after dominating play but missing numerous chances as the hosts capitalized on loss of concentration and controlled key moments of the game. The result served as a wake-up call for the young Ghanaian side.

The response in the second game was emphatic. The Starlets delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Young Elephants 4-0, showcasing attacking fluidity, improved coordination, and defensive discipline. The victory was widely described within the camp as “sweet revenge,” reflecting the team’s determination and ability to bounce back strongly.

The turnaround not only highlighted the squad’s depth and adaptability but also reinforced belief in their tactical approach as they gear up for tougher opposition on the continental stage.

With the Morocco 2027 U-17 AFCON tournament fast approaching, the Black Starlets now turn their full attention to final preparations.

The technical team is expected to intensify training sessions in the coming days before the squad departs for Morocco, carrying with them valuable experience and renewed momentum.
