Kofi Adams has expressed firm confidence in the readiness of the Ghana national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting that the right steps are being taken to ensure a competitive showing.
Ghana, four-time African champions, will be making their fifth appearance at the global tournament, which will be hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico. However, their qualification has been accompanied by concerns over inconsistent performances in recent months.
Speaking on Asempa FM, the Minister for Sports and Recreation stressed that his approach is focused and deliberate, aimed at building a solid foundation for success on the world stage.
“I am doing everything possible to ensure that we do things the right way,” he stated. “I am not nervous; I am calculated in my decisions, and once I am convinced, I stay committed. Pressure will come, but I won’t allow it to overwhelm me.”
The Black Stars face a stern test in Group L, where they will take on England national team, Croatia national team and Panama national team in what is widely seen as one of the toughest groups.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
As part of their final preparations, the team is scheduled to play friendly matches against Mexico national team and Wales national team.
Despite the pressure and expectations, Adams remains confident that Ghana will be well-prepared to compete at the highest level.
