Kofi Adams has clarified that the government will not finance travel expenses for Executive Council members of the Ghana Football Association ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, the Minister for Sports and Recreation explained that state support will be limited to essential officials directly involved in the management of the Ghana national team.
According to him, individuals such as GFA President Kurt Okraku, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, and members of the Management Committee will have their travel catered for.
He emphasized that Executive Council members will not be included in the government’s funding plans, as priority is being given to those with direct responsibilities tied to the team’s operations at the tournament.
Ghana, four-time African champions, are set to compete in Group L alongside England national team, Croatia national team, and Panama national team as they prepare for their fifth appearance at the global showpiece.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by fixtures against England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
As part of their build-up, the team, led by head coach Carlos Queiroz, will engage in international friendlies against Mexico national team and Wales national team before the tournament begins.
