Ethan Ampadu capped an outstanding 2025/26 campaign by winning both the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards at Leeds United’s end-of-season ceremony on Tuesday night.
The Leeds captain played a crucial role in helping the club secure Premier League survival, with the Whites guaranteeing their top-flight status three matches before the end of the season.
Ampadu’s leadership, consistency, and versatility proved vital throughout the campaign as Daniel Farke’s side battled through a demanding season.
The Welsh international of Ghanaian descent featured 39 times across all competitions and delivered important contributions at both ends of the pitch.
Among his standout moments were a goal in Leeds’ impressive 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Elland Road and a dramatic late assist for Lukas Nmecha’s stoppage-time winner against Fulham.
The awards mark Ampadu’s second time winning the club’s top individual honour after previously claiming it in 2024.
In doing so, he joins Gordon McQueen, Lee Bowyer, and Jermaine Beckford as one of the few players to receive the prestigious award on multiple occasions.
Supporters and teammates reportedly recognised not only his performances but also his leadership qualities, discipline, organisation, and calmness in high-pressure situations during Leeds’ survival fight.
Since taking over the captaincy, Ampadu has become one of the most influential figures at Elland Road, with his ability to operate effectively in both defence and midfield making him indispensable to the team.
Meanwhile, Noah Okafor was named Performance Player of the Year following his memorable display against Manchester United, where he scored twice in a famous victory at Old Trafford.
Okafor became the first Leeds player since Roque Junior in 2003 to score a brace against Manchester United and only the second player in the club’s history to net twice at Old Trafford after Joe Firth in 1931.
For Ampadu, the latest recognition further cements his growing reputation as one of Leeds United’s most important players heading into the new season.
