Daniel-Kofi Kyereh says he is leaving SC Freiburg with gratitude after confirming his departure from the Bundesliga club at the end of the season.
The Ghana international will become a free agent on June 30, 2026, bringing an end to his four-year spell in Germany after both parties mutually agreed to part ways.
Kyereh’s time at Freiburg was heavily affected by a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in 2023, which kept him out of first-team action for almost three seasons.
Despite the setback, the 30-year-old midfielder expressed appreciation for the support he received throughout his recovery and rehabilitation period at the club.
“I am happy about my time in Freiburg. The team has always supported me, and recently I was taken aback by how the lads in the U23s welcomed me,” Kyereh said during his farewell ceremony.
The attacking midfielder eventually made his return through Freiburg’s reserve team, where he showed promising signs of recovery, contributing four goals in eight appearances.
Kyereh is now expected to prioritise regular playing time as he looks to rebuild his career and push for a return to the Ghana Black Stars setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former FC St. Pauli player remains determined to regain full form and re-establish himself at international level after a long spell on the sidelines.
