English-born winger, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi made his debut for the Black Stars in the 2-0 defeat to Mexico in a pre-World Cup friendly at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla.

The 23-year-old who recently switched international allegiance to Ghana, was handed a starting role in the important warm-up game ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Rak-Sakyi, still contracted to Crystal Palace FC, spent the season on loan spells with Turkish side Rizespor and English Championship club Stoke City.

Although he struggled to fully influence the game, he nearly marked his debut with a stunning goal in the 53rd minute after unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box which crashed against the crossbar.

Rak-Sakyi was eventually substituted in the 66th minute and replaced by Razak Simpson as Ghana searched for a way back into the contest.

The Black Stars will now continue preparations for the World Cup with another international friendly against Wales before travelling for the tournament in North America.

Ghana will open their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27 in Group L.
