Dutch-born Ghanaian goalkeeper Paul Reverson has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars’ chances of making a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, predicting that Ghana can reach the semi-finals and possibly go even further in the tournament.
The 20-year-old, who recently received his first senior national team call-up ahead of Ghana’s international friendly against Mexico, believes the Black Stars possess the quality needed to compete with the world’s best teams on football’s biggest stage.
Reverson, who has previously represented Ghana at the Under-20 level, also reflected on his experience in the senior national team camp. He revealed that he quickly settled in after being warmly welcomed by several players, particularly Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Caleb Yirenkyi and Aaron Essel Bonsu, who helped him feel at home among the squad.
Although he did not make the final squad for the World Cup, the young goalkeeper remains optimistic about Ghana’s prospects.
Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup and has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. The four-time African champions will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England and Croatia in their remaining group matches.
Despite missing out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, expectations remain high as the Black Stars seek to make a strong impression at the global tournament.
