Sudanese football giants Al Merrikh SC have moved aggressively in the transfer market, securing the signatures of three talented African players as they prepare for the upcoming CAF Champions League season.

The 19-time Sudanese champions are determined to enhance their competitiveness both domestically and on the continental stage after finishing third in the Rwanda Premier League last season. Al Merrikh and rivals Al Hilal participated in the Rwandan top flight due to the ongoing challenges affecting football activities in Sudan.

Leading the club’s new arrivals is highly-rated Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrison, who joins from Kenyan powerhouse Gor Mahia. Morrison arrives after an impressive spell in Kenya, where he played a pivotal role in Gor Mahia’s league triumph and established himself as one of the competition’s standout performers.

The former Ghana youth international has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Al Merrikh until 2029. His outstanding performances last season earned him both the league’s Midfielder of the Season award and the coveted Most Valuable Player accolade.

Al Merrikh officially welcomed Morrison through their social media channels, expressing confidence that the midfielder will continue the tradition of excellence associated with one of Sudan’s most successful clubs.

The club has also reinforced its attacking options with the acquisition of Cameroonian playmaker Wilfried Nathan Douala from Canon Yaoundé. The creative midfielder is expected to add flair, vision and attacking impetus to Al Merrikh’s midfield department.

In defence, the Sudanese side has secured the services of Malian centre-back Ibrahima Traoré, who arrives from Congolese club AS Otohô d’Oyo. His addition is expected to provide stability and experience at the heart of the team’s backline.

The trio’s arrival highlights Al Merrikh’s ambition to challenge strongly in the CAF Champions League after booking their place in the competition through a domestic qualification tournament held in Sudan.

With these strategic additions, the Red Devils are signalling their intent to compete for major honours and re-establish themselves among Africa’s elite clubs in the coming season.
