Highly-rated Ghanaian youngster Obed Ofori has completed a move to German Oberliga side Spvgg Erkenschwick as he continues his development in European football.
The 19-year-old forward has signed a one-year contract with the fifth-tier German club after ending his spell with Arminia Bielefeld II, where he featured in the previous campaign.
Ofori has already linked up with his new teammates and begun pre-season preparations as Spvgg Erkenschwick intensify their plans ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The German club is hoping the young Ghanaian attacker can play a key role in their promotion ambitions, with the team targeting a move up to the fourth tier of German football.
Spvgg head coach Nassir Maylar expressed his excitement about securing the services of the talented forward, praising his physical qualities, experience and potential for further growth.
“Obed is a very exciting player with excellent training. He’s physically strong, already familiar with the Oberliga, and has great potential for development,” Maylar said.
“We’re delighted that he chose to join us despite other offers and are convinced he’ll be a valuable asset to our team.”
Ofori began his football journey at FSV Witten before earning a move to the prestigious Schalke 04 youth system, where he continued his development among some of Germany’s top academy talents.
After his time with Schalke, the Ghanaian prospect moved to VfL Bochum before joining Arminia Bielefeld II, gaining valuable experience in German football’s lower divisions.
His latest move to Spvgg Erkenschwick presents another important opportunity for the teenager to secure regular playing time, improve his game and push towards a higher level of competition.
With his blend of physical strength, attacking ability and experience within Germany’s football structure, Ofori is viewed as one of the promising Ghanaian youngsters seeking to make a breakthrough in Europe.
