Ghanaian striker Prince Osei Owusu continued his outstanding Major League Soccer campaign by scoring the equaliser as CF Montréal battled back to earn a valuable point against New England Revolution on Saturday.
The 28-year-old forward once again proved to be Montréal’s attacking talisman, producing a composed finish to cancel out New England’s advantage and ensure his side avoided defeat.
After falling behind, Montréal increased the pressure in search of a response, with Owusu leading the line effectively through his movement, hold-up play and intelligent positioning inside the penalty area. His persistence paid off when he found space in the box and calmly converted to level the contest.
The goal shifted the momentum in Montréal’s favour, with the visitors pushing for a late winner, but New England’s defence held firm as both sides settled for a share of the points.
The strike took Owusu to 10 MLS goals this season, underlining his importance to Montréal’s attack.
Owusu has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career, establishing himself as one of Montréal’s most reliable attacking players. His physical presence, aerial ability, clinical finishing and intelligent movement have made him a constant threat to opposition defences.
Since joining CF Montréal, the former VfB Stuttgart, Arminia Bielefeld, SC Paderborn and Maccabi Netanya striker has brought valuable European experience to MLS and has become a key figure in the club’s push for a strong finish to the season.
