Karela United FC have been handed a registration ban by FIFA after failing to settle a financial obligation owed to former player Sana Camara.
The world football governing body confirmed the sanction in a letter dated August 17, 2026, issued through the FIFA Legal Portal.
The decision relates to an earlier ruling under case number FPSD-23160, which FIFA says the Ghana Premier League club has yet to comply with.
In the correspondence, FIFA Head of Disciplinary Américo Espallargas indicated that the club remains in default of its financial responsibility to Camara.
“As it appears that, despite the Decision, Karela United (the Respondent) has not yet complied with its financial obligations towards Sana Camara,” FIFA stated in the correspondence.
Following the club’s failure to comply with the earlier decision, FIFA has activated a registration ban against Karela United.
The sanction prevents the club from registering new players at both the international and national levels.
The restriction will remain effective until the outstanding financial obligation to Camara is paid in full. However, FIFA has indicated that the ban can remain in force for a maximum of three complete and consecutive registration periods.
The development comes at a difficult time for Karela United, as the club could face serious limitations in its efforts to recruit and register new players during the ongoing transfer and registration window.
FIFA has also directed the Ghana Football Association to ensure that the registration restriction is enforced at the domestic level if this has not already been done.
The decision means Karela United will now be under increased pressure to resolve the matter with Camara if the club wants to restore its ability to register new players.
FIFA did not disclose the amount involved in the financial dispute in the latest correspondence.
Karela United will therefore have to fulfil the terms of the original FIFA decision before the registration ban can be lifted.
The case adds to the growing importance of clubs meeting their contractual and financial obligations to players, with FIFA continuing to enforce disciplinary measures against clubs that fail to comply with its decisions.
