Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has hinted that the club could unveil further surprise signings as the Porcupine Warriors continue to reshape their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The South African tactician is overseeing a major rebuilding exercise at the club, with Kotoko making several changes to their playing squad following an underwhelming 2025/26 campaign.
A number of players have already departed as part of the restructuring, while the club has brought in new faces, including players based outside Ghana.
Although Tinkler believes Kotoko have largely completed the recruitment work required to strengthen the team, he has left the door open for additional arrivals.
“We have now completed the signings that we feel we need to strengthen the squad,” Tinkler said.
The coach explained that the overhaul has resulted in significant changes to the composition of the team, with several players leaving to make room for a new-look squad.
“What you should expect is obviously there is going to be a number of changes in terms of the squad.
“We’ve moved a number of players out that we just felt… So [there are] a lot of new faces, a lot of foreign-based players that come with a lot of experience as well, which I think is all very important.”
Despite saying that the club has secured the players it believes are necessary, Tinkler has increased anticipation among Kotoko supporters by suggesting that the club may not be finished in the transfer market.
“Well, there are one or two surprises still coming,” he added.
The comments are likely to heighten expectations among the Porcupine Warriors’ faithful, who will be eager to see the identity of the players behind the coach’s latest revelation.
Kotoko’s revamped squad will get an early test when they take on traditional rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2026 Democracy Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors will subsequently open their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign on the road against newly promoted Debibi United.
With a significantly altered playing group, Tinkler will now have the task of quickly integrating the new recruits and ensuring they adapt to his tactical approach.
Kotoko will be hoping the extensive rebuilding exercise translates into improved performances and a stronger challenge for honours in the upcoming league season.
