Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng Gyabaa has been ruled out for a lengthy period after suffering a serious knee injury in Albacete Balompié’s opening game of the 2026/27 season.
The former Ghana Black Meteors forward sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Albacete’s Segunda División clash against UD Las Palmas, bringing his campaign to an early end.
Following medical examinations, the Spanish club confirmed the severity of the injury and pledged their full support throughout his recovery.
“Unfortunately, the worst fears have been confirmed. The entire Albacete Balompié will stand by Samu at every step of his recovery,” the club announced.
Obeng joined Albacete during the second half of last season and quickly became an important figure for the team, scoring three goals and making a positive impact in attack.
His absence leaves Albacete with a major challenge as they look to strengthen their forward line before the transfer window closes.
The Ghanaian forward will now begin his rehabilitation process with the aim of returning to action as soon as possible.
