Asante Kotoko have officially announced the return of goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad, who rejoins the Porcupine Warriors after a successful two-year spell with Ethiopian side Coffee SC.
The 23-year-old returns to Kumasi after making more than 55 appearances and keeping 28 clean sheets in all competitions during his time in Ethiopia.
Danlad first joined Kotoko in 2016 and made his Ghana Premier League debut against Aduana FC during the club’s 2021/22 title-winning season. His impressive performances also earned him a place in Otto Addo’s Ghana squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Expressing his delight after sealing his return, Danlad said: “I am very excited to be back here again. Even though I left two years ago, I always felt that the story had to continue.”
He added: “To have another chance of playing for Asante Kotoko once again means everything to me and my family because the club has played a truly special role in my life.”
Reflecting on his time abroad, the goalkeeper believes he has returned as a more complete player.
“I left as a young man, but now I am much more mature and have gained a lot of experience,” he said. “Together with my colleagues, both the old and new faces, we will give everything for this club to win every competition.”
Kotoko’s Director of Football Stanley Menzo welcomed the signing, expressing confidence in Danlad’s qualities and leadership.
“He has been to the World Cup and in my career I also played as a goalkeeper, so I know what it takes to be one,” Menzo said.
He added: “He knows the club, the environment and the expectations here, so we are happy to add him to the competitive squad we are building.”
Danlad’s return further strengthens Kotoko’s goalkeeping department as the club continues to reinforce its squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season under head coach Eric Tinkler.
