Ghana international midfielder Kwasi Sibo is on the verge of completing a move to Libyan club Swehly SC in a $10m contract, Sportsworldghana.com can exclusively confirm.
The former Real Oviedo midfielder and his representatives are close to finalising the mega deal having held positive discussions with the North African club.
Sports World Ghana, can also report that the club have agreed to pay the 28-yaer old Black Stars midfielder a sum of $80K monthly salary. Sibo will happily earn around $2.5m annually once he signs the lucrative contract.
Although clubs like West Ham United, Hull City, Coventry City, Gençlerbirliği and Troyes have reached out the the player’s camp, none of them made an offer close to what the Libyan club have offered the 2026 World Cup player.
Sibo spent the last two seasons at Real Oviedo, helping the club secure promotion to LaLiga before featuring in the Spanish top flight during the 2025/26 season.
Oviedo struggled after their promotion and were eventually relegated, but the setback did not affect Sibo’s international prospects.
The midfielder was named in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and featured during the tournament, playing against England, Colombia, Croatia and Panama.
His performances at club and international level have maintained his appeal, with his ball-winning ability, positional discipline and strength in protecting the back four making him an attractive option for clubs seeking experience in midfield.
If the remaining formalities are completed, Sibo will begin a new chapter in Libya with Swehly SC, who are looking to add the experienced Ghanaian midfielder to their squad for the Caf Champions League campaign.
Meanwhile, Sports World Ghana understands that the Libyan Premier League Champions also signed Tunisia star Centre-back Nader Ghandri who also featured in both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup for Tunisa with two AFCON tournaments to his credit to strenghten their squad.
Also 25-year old Zambia winger Lameck Banda who recently played for U.S Lecce has agreed to join the Libyan side ahead of their African campaign.
