Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has revealed that the Black Stars are close to appointing a new head coach, insisting that the coach who will lead the national team is already identified and involved in preparations ahead of the team’s next assignment.
According to Kurt Okraku, the Ghana Football Association is at an advanced stage in the process and expects Ghana to have a substantive coach before the Black Stars regroup.
He disclosed that the identity of the incoming coach is virtually settled, describing the appointment as “99% in place.”
Kurt Okraku said the next coach is not someone the GFA is only beginning to search for, stressing that the individual is already working as preparations continue behind the scenes.
He stated that Ghana will not wait until the Black Stars report for their next assignment before deciding on who should take charge of the team.
Kurt Okraku explained that the process has progressed to the point where the incoming coach can begin working ahead of the next gathering of the national team.
He said, “Ghana will have a coach before we regroup. The coach who will lead the Black Stars is 99% in place. The coach who will lead the Black Stars is already working.”
The comments are expected to ease uncertainty surrounding the technical leadership of the Black Stars, particularly as the GFA works to put the national team on a new path.
Kurt Okraku’s revelation also suggests that the GFA has already moved beyond the preliminary stage of identifying potential candidates, with the focus now on completing the final aspects of the appointment.
The GFA President did not disclose the name of the coach, leaving the identity of the incoming manager as a matter of anticipation among Ghanaian football supporters.
His comments, however, indicate that the appointment is unlikely to be delayed until the next international break, as the GFA wants the new coach to be in place before the players assemble.
The incoming manager will inherit the responsibility of rebuilding the Black Stars and ensuring that the team becomes competitive on the international stage.
