Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini made his first start for Derby County as the Championship side faced West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday. The 24-year-old was handed a place in John Eustace’s starting lineup after making his debut from the bench in Derby’s previous game against West Ham United.
Fuseini joined Derby County on a season-long loan from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day, adding pace and attacking versatility to the Rams’ squad. The Ghana international can operate across the frontline and on the flanks.
His start against West Brom marked an important step in his adaptation to English football, having previously featured for just 20 minutes during Derby’s 3-0 defeat to West Ham. The forward was therefore given the opportunity to make a greater impact from the opening whistle.
Fuseini arrived at Derby with considerable European experience, having played for Sturm Graz and Union Saint-Gilloise, while also spending time with Danish club Randers. He has featured in both UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches during his career and has earned two senior caps for Ghana.
The appearance represents the beginning of a new chapter for Fuseini as he looks to establish himself in the Championship and become an important attacking option for Derby during his loan spell from Union Saint-Gilloise.
